Crawling Helmets

Apparently the new thing for toddlers these days is the so called "crawling" helmet. They are designed to protect our little ones' heads as they learn to crawl, stand, and walk. Just my opinion, which I think many people share, is that they are completely unnecessary. First of all, we have a skeletal system that is designed to protect us when we fall. Most toddlers aren't going to fall that far and with enough force to cause major damage. Now, I definitely think it is a good idea to remove any potential hazards from the child's playing area. Second, toddlers learn when they fall. They receive sensory feedback, some of which is painful, when they fall and make a mistake. This helps them learn what they did wrong and how to make corrections in the future. By wearing a helmet, that feedback is removed, and the child does not learn from their mistake. It's safe to say the Cameron will not be wearing a helmet like the child in the picture to his right.
